Christmas Vacation....
well the season always usually leaves many fun and can't wait to tell stories under the tree for me however this year no such luck. dare I say the holiday was a bit DULL compared to past years? Odd. No thrashing family fights, no yelling husband over lights not working, no snow storms making everything that much harder to get to...no. It was as basic as cooking the turkey and it turning out and everyone eating dinner and no arguing. Opening presents that were thoughtfully picked out. A very strange year... Even the Christmas Pickle was won fair and square no protests.
The only odd part was (is) Mom had knee surgery and is in a rehab place recovering (in Florida). She is all wound up and really enjoying pushing buttons with everyone. You know, telling the physical therapist the comments nurses make about them and vice versa - yes, there is a civil war now among the ranks there.
Other news is my nephew is in Saudia Arabia right now. He is in the Air Force and stationed for about 6 months. I almost got to see him before he shipped out as he first stopped in Vegas for a few weeks (on base) and LITERALLY the day before I was to leave got his orders to depart. God does have a sarcastic sense of humor.
Vegas was awesome by the way. I would definately go back again in a heartbeat. Too many things to do in such a short time. We need a longer planned out trip next. I am not sure the hubs would like it. My friend and I tended to park at slots and um drink. When I got back to work I was baffled "Where is the waitress? Why isn't there a slot machine in front of me?" We did go on a Haunted Las Vegas tour. Very cool. And saw The Scintas at the Sahara (miserable place but THE BEST show). I did see one Chirstmas Elvis. AND I stayed up til 3 or 4 in the morning!
Work is work. Very busy. January 19th I have a small surgery and will be out for two weeks. Being the Office Poop Girl I don't think anyone will notice I am gone till the pile on my desk falls over. I will say though I have felt productive at work. Though let me just mention Stalker talker...CORNERED me 5 times today. I had to recruit people to watch over me to save me from S.T. Word spread fast I needed help and people really came through. The phone was ringing off the hook when she approached (this usuallyy sends her scurrying as to her it may be a work related conversation she MIGHT get on the fringes of). Today was corner me in my cube and look over my shoulder at my emails popping up day. I noticed I had clenched fists. I was having visions of screaming STOP STOP SHUT UP SHUT UP. I now walk through the office and get those sympathetic head bobs, sometimes a pat on the back. sigh....usually my office nemisis (my "Newman" if you will) actually can put her in her place alas he is not in this week. Good for me in some ways (he has made me cry before - I still think it partially was PMS) and bad (hence no one to play the sounds of chickens clucking on their cell phone and tell her to be quiet).
Sounds like you had a nice Christmas!!!
