It's been a crazy week.
Back from Vegas. Car crash. Work. All that jazz.
The weekend came and boy was I looking forward to it. Friday night Mr PBS and I relaxed and stayed in. However I had donated a basket for a benefit and got a text that it went for over $115. It doesn't sound like a huge amount but fearing it would linger and not be bid on I consider that a pat on the back! That evening a neighbor stopped by and actually ADMIRED what I had done with our house so far decor wise. being inwardly very vain it gave me goosbumps. I was very proud (we have worked hard!)- we are supposed to go to look for flooring for the bathroom today. Also there is a light I have my eye on for the hallway that I hope to get. Very "mission" style like. Our house is a bit reserved except for spare room #1 which I have been trying to do yellow/black. Being a very shabby chic girl this is way off my radar but it seems to be working itself out.
Saturday morning I drove out to my sister's (she is about 45 minutes away towards the "country") as her village was having a garage sale thoughout. I must say it was fun. I personally adore yard sales. My sister shuns them. She did well and I was proud of her. We walked away with collectables (her) and functional (me). I picked up: books, recipe collections (I collect "vintage" cookbooks. I found a Betty Crocker recipe collect COMPLETE for $1-yes a dollar!)and a fantastic pasta steam pot that will be great for veggies too. I almost purchased a dresser for the forementioned spare room but just couldn't commit.
Oh and a gorgeous designer purse. The weather was supposed to be rainy but held off. It was warm and fantastic walking weather.
It was home for Derby day. I have shifted Mr PBS into a man that appreciates a good horse race or show jumping riding event. Bless his Nascar loving heart.
I bet on two horses Bob Black Jack and Eight Belles. Being a former equestrian & horse owner I was just heartbroken by the outcome.
Today I am off for a birthday brunch (for me!) and can't wait to linger and gossip.
Being as it is cold and overcast I am longing to curl up later with a good book and chill. So with Mr PBS on board to make dinner I think this is a sunday of perfection.
It sounds like that yard sale was big! Happy things are calmer for you this wknd!
