My political background.
Little/youth: raised by die hard republicans. Very old school. I think they started the GOP.
Teenage years: Ah those lovely years. PBS goes punk. Embraces all that is anarachy. A brief flirtation with facisim, socialism and marxism. Draws the line at any commitment. Decides to always remain an Independent.
College: Head off into the Poli Sci program. Promptly decide all politicians are crap. The founding fathers very much did forsee what the country had become with a two party system and had warned us about it.
Decide ALex P Keaton was too liberal.
20's / 30's: sure that I am correct - all politicians are total crap as we witness scandal after scandal in every party. How I long for the days I could wear a nice blue dress or throw on a kicky beret without it being an outfit for Halloween. sigh.
And now...comfortable in my own beliefs. Feel I have settled into a good fit for ME from all that I have experienced and learned. I am a liberal conservative. Yes you can. I am. I have GOP in my blood but am looking towards Obama with hopeful eyes and a steely heart. I brace for some sort of scandal but dream of how we can make this country good again.
Can I please some of these punk phase pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteI am with you, I vote for what fits ME!
I also agree. I was raised democrat but during my 20s and 30s became jaded with politics. Hell, I was even patronage during my college years. Good job that paid twice as much as minimum wage.
ReplyDeleteBut now, I vote for what I think is right for me. I wound up finally getting the form to change my party from Democrat to Independent. I don't care about the primaries, but I want to vote for who I like not because my party tells me so.
