Tomorrow night is my work Christmas party. Note: I feel all warm and fuzzy saying Christmas party instead of being all politcally correct. Which do you say now? I have slowly been pulling out all stops decorating my cube (groan, I am one of THOSE people), playing my christmas music and just getting jolly into the season.
Anyway. Two hours. That's what we get. Two hours with food and an open bar. My blood sweat and tears throughout the year add up to this.
Not that I am not grateful - in this economy when my household is down to one gainfully employed person - but I do miss the grand parties of the 80's and 90's. A few thawed shrimp and a cold glass of cheap wine just make me sad.
So I am going to order "white wine spritzer" after "white wine spritzer" and party like it's 1989! I am wearing my 20 peices of "flair" (christmas pins! maybe ones that light up!), teasing my hair BIG, putting on the shoulder pads and glitzy stirrup pants*. You so want to be on the party circut with me don't you?
*ok I kind of lost you at that one right. You know I jest. Right? But my God I love the 1980's. Anyone remember Hit or Miss, The ShedHouse ....
Our employers parties are a lot better than the ones that I had or didn't have at my previous employers!!!
ReplyDeleteOne year, we got a hot chocolate mix and a mug to go along with it. I saw the mugs on sale the previous week at a local grocery store for .84 cents. Classy huh?
Yes! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
ReplyDeleteI so loved the 80s--big hair and all.
Kat, the mug made me LAUGH!!
ReplyDeleteKelly, I will have to post my Halloween party pics as I really had it going on with my 80's outfit. It just felt so right teasing and spraying my hair. ah ...
