You know when sometimes you sit down to write and you think you have a perfectly good topic and the words are going to flow then you sit down and by the time you boot up the old commodore POOF it all crumbles.
Original thought. Gone.
Funny story that translates well and is snort worthy hilarious. Pffft
Relationship commentary that is insightful and helpful. Disappeared.
TV viewing critique. Forgotten.
SO that leaves the filler sentences. I am struggling and realize I have been struggling for awhile. I finally figured out why. I am not writing about what interests ME but what I think will interest other people. Which begs the question why write for fun? I don't want to bore anyone with my inside the fascinating world of my marriage stories. But also I don't want to leave the impression once the singleton life ends the bliss begins and so The End. (I hear marrieds snorting and snickering.) I wish life were a fairy tale and once everyone found their prince (or princess I don't judge) it all was wonderful.
But the prince often won't move from the couch, hates crowds and babbles endlessly about his verbal battles on political forums. Welcome to my world.
BTW there is a dog* laying on the bed next to me with it's ass perched firmly on my NEW MAGAZINE. I can never look at a New York Magazine the same way again.
*note I first wrote god and caught it after I hit publish post. It's official, I think the furry clowns in my house have firmly brainwashed me.
I do that all the time...I have a great post that I'm going to write and then all the sudden when I sit down to write about it, it's gone. That actually just happened to me!
ReplyDeleteYup, self-editing's a b*tch. Don't do it. Type from your heart. And I think your doggie's expression of his opinion of the New Yorker was hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI always do that. I started carrynig around a small notebook in my purse to write down thoughts as I think about them. Its made it a little easier, but not a whole lot. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI hate when blogs vanish. Seriously, I have started to keep notes about what I should blog about! It's ridiculous. I agree with Peggy--self editing is a beeotch. Blog away, sister--thats what it's here for!
ReplyDeleteAnd, right now, I am thankful I don't have a dog! :)
I always have that problem. And, this your blog. You space in the world. Write what you want to write about... I'll still be reading!
ReplyDeleteI am feeling the love! And what a great idea about carrying the notebook. Will do!
