I will make this quick as I am sitting in the "man Room" where the desk hugger computer is located and it's frickin freezing! My fingers are a pretty shade of blue and I have a book calling my name (Ok, truth be known I want to make popcorn and gorge on a warm salty bowl of it so there!)

My sister is is in Iowa today. In Orange City (???) for a trade show. I would not have guessed but it's like the mini Dutch haven there. Tulip Fest is this weekend (yay) and she reports she has enjoyed three glasses of Iowa's finest wines. It occured to me that you really don't have to travel out of the USA to travel Europe. In fact here in my town we have a hefty (haha) German population and Irish population. For a girl who enjoys her beer and starches it's a mighty fine place to live. Oh yes and our west side is Italian (mmm warm bread and pasta.)
So we may no thave the Tulip Festival but we have*:

Italian Festival
Taste of Buffalo
Eden Corn Festival
Elmwood Art Festival (on this list due to the yummy food vendors that partake)
Canal Fest (dappled with Polish treats and the vast army of food vendors previously mentioned)
Irish Festival ( I call it the Guiness Gulp)
Friendship Festival (Americans get cozy with Canadians by listening to music & drinking Labatts)
Harbour Fest (no real reason but bands and booze)
Erie County Fair
WING FEST (ahhh beer, chicken wings & blue cheese trifecta)

Folks this is the tip of the (food) iceberg within a 20 mile (minus Eden) radius. Maybe K. can help me out with some more as I am dizzy from want of popcorn. BTW my microwave has blown it's top and no numbers appear. we just push blank buttons now and hope for the best.

*within a two month time frame mind you

  1. Sounds fun up there. I lived in Western Wisconsin for 3 years and you would think that they just got off the boat from Norway over there. Oh Yah, you betcha!
