Answer me this.
When did it change that everytime you are invited to a party you have to now bring loads with you. I don't have parties for my guests to do work but it seems now we are expected not to show up with a nice bottle of wine or cute hostess gift - we must bring dessert for 30 or appetizers for your husband's co worker's neighborhood. I didn't think you had to WORK at being a guest. It dawned on me, this is why I am so reluctant to accept invites anymore. I want to be polite, I want to have a social life but I don't want to go broke doing it. I will start fighting back by INSISTING my guests (all two times a year I have people over) do not lift a finger. Bring yourself because I just want you not your veggie tray. (note this rule will be null and void for specific people whose desserts I CRAVE.) If you bring wine just bring a bottle not the 2 gallon Blue Nun bottle. You, my friend, are my guest.

  1. I agree with you on the parties..especially when there are a lot of people there!!

I do love having little parties with a few friends where everyone brings a speciality. Like Susie (my make believe friend Susie) brings her world famous pie. Not a pie for 50 people, just a handful that are gathering. But, the invitation should also say potluck!
