Happy easter. The oneandonly and I are having a quiet Easter dinner at home. Just the two of us and two crazy dogs (I will for today give them the benefit of the doubt as the smell of baking ham is probably setting off some crazy buzzer in their brains). Mom lives in Fl and Sis is going to her In Law's. Mr O&O's family does not really "do" Easter so that leaves us.

So I have spent Easter morning making orange rolls and stalking Ebay. Which brings me to wonder if anyone else has some secret collection too. My favorite thing in the world to collect are vintage cookbooks from the 50's and 60's. I think they are terribly sweet to look at. They transport me back to the days of simpler times. When we as women really tried to make a house a home. That was considered our "occupation" (look pretty, cook and have babies). Long gone are the days I was offended by that description. Women worked hard to break those barriers and now I am glad that women can have either work, home, or both if they want it. So anyhoo I pour of garage sales and book sales to find the right cookbook. I am picky about the ones I find - must be in good shape and um smell free.

Do you have any interesting collectables to share?

  1. Thimbles! I used to collect them. Good luck with the ham! Happy Easter!

Btw, its great that we can choose to work or stay at home. I'm not so sure I would like being a homemaker though!

  2. I think if I had kids I would resent not being able having the option to stay home. right now if I could have my wish I would like to be able to work p/t (believe it or not!) - some days juggling everything feels like too much other days I feel totally the opposite and wish I were more in high gear career wise.
I think it's just the grass is always greener.
