Does anyone else think there is just a tiny bit of irony that Sarah Palin's daughter was smashed in the press for making the CHOICE to keep her baby*. Isn't the point of Pro Choice to be able to make the decision that fits your life? It's not just about the choice to end a pregnancy but to see it through.
I'm just asking.
Now before you jump all over me remember I truly think it's totally a woman's choice. Sure my opinion changes and gets tweaked - that is part of life. After seeing my close friends struggle with infertility and adoption not to mention myself losing my child bearing choice your outlook tends to grow as you see things differently. You wonder when there are so many people that would make excellent parents why the road has to be that hard for them.** However I truly believe no one should have a say in anyone's life in this matter.
It reminds me of High School when yours truly was a bad a$$ punker that made fun of people that "looked all the same" and finally looked around and noticed all my "punker" friends all um looked the same. I was a wise (ass?) girl -and of course once I pointed this out to my "cool" friends was promptly dropped from the crowd. yeah buddies, that mirror held up to you hurt didn't it?
I am not friend or foe of Ms Palin - Mr McCain scares the bahjeebus out of me in so many ways (but so does Mr Obama - sorry Mom and so does Hiliary - sorry Lynn.) My theory runs along the lines that the best people that could be running are the smartest as they choose not to. But I know it's a privledge and a honor to be able to vote so this PBS will have to make decisions soon.
*right there. I so want to sing Papa Don't Preach and bust out my old 80's Madonna moves.
**Happy news though. My BFF & husband recently adopted and she is the most gorgeous creature in the world. Everyone is smitten and she can melt your heart with one smile.
I am with you on the fact that it is a choice!
