two posts in one day - what gives? Well long story short I came home today in a frazzleschnazzle and babbling 100mph to Mr PBS when he shot me with the horrible line that is the catch phrase of late "I got laid off" - needless to say my heart sank.
Sank to a bottomless pit (woops that would be my stomach) - immediately I began imagining us all in a cardboard box and dumpster diving for our dinner. Frankly I am scared. Growing up in a blue collar city like Buffalo Lay Offs were always hovering around our Chevy employed household. I am proud of my city and my background but this has led me to a strange rat packing exsistence that can also never pay full retail for anything. I once read a story about a depression era raise lady whom saved all her plastic forks and spoons - I have channeled my inner plastic utensil diva.
I have to be thankful we do not have children. I would be scaring THEM for life right now - and frankly unable to feed them. I have two pups that will snuggle up with me to keep me warm. I have a determined husband that things can only get better (did YOU just hear Howard Jones too?) So I will curb my spending and "extras" for now. I have broken up with the casino and Target officially. The belt is tightening at the PBS ranch. I am sure it will be a thought/blog provoking time.

Dear readers be reassured you are getting the calmed down, maybe he snuck a ttranquilizer in my coffee version. Four hours ago this (wildly points to self) was not pretty.

  1. Hi! I found your blog through Chickbug.

I'm so sorry to hear your news. I was laid off from a job in 2001, and I SO know how you feel right now. I work in an industry that seems to be in a perpetual cycle of layoffs...it's just miserable to have to worry all the time.

Anyway, hang in there...it may take some time, but things will work out.
